When 5-axis is the right call

Send your 5-axis print if your part has any of these.

  • Compound angles or undercuts that 3-axis can't reach without rework
  • True-position callouts < 0.001″ across multiple features
  • Thin-wall structural parts where multiple setups would warp the part
  • Impellers, manifolds, turbine housings, surgical instruments
  • Production parts where setup time is killing your unit cost

Setup consolidation candidate

The drawing review determines whether 5-axis access can reduce fixtures, protect cross-face relationships, and lower setup-driven cost. No cycle-time or savings claim is made before CAM and workholding review.

FAQ

Common 5-axis questions

What's the 5-axis envelope?

19.7″ × 17.7″ × 17.7″ on the UMC-500SS. Larger parts route to the VF-4SS 3-axis with 4th-axis indexer (50″ × 20″ × 24″).

Can you hold ±0.0002″ on production?

Yes — on critical features with CMM verification. Day-rate production tolerances are ±0.001″ with periodic CMM checks.

Do you handle ITAR drawings?

Yes — ITAR registered (DDTC). U.S.-persons-only access to controlled drawings. NDA before review on request.

Lead time?

Manufacturing lead time is quoted after drawing, material, outside-process, inspection, and capacity review. Include the required delivery window so the response can state a firm schedule.
